Reading the map
Each dot is one satellite, roughly 340 to 570 km up and crossing the country in a few minutes. A dish only uses satellites well clear of the horizon, about 25° and up. Those are highlighted, and the dashed ring marks roughly where on the ground a satellite needs to be for that. Drag to move, use the buttons or pinch to zoom, and hover or tap a dot for its details.
Why it matters on site
With this many satellites passing over, there is always one in range. What decides a good connection on the day is a clear view of the sky, so we place satellite terminals away from trees, buildings and marquee roofs. See our satellite internet service.
